Pop’s Pit BBQ Grand Reopening
November 29 Pop’s Pitt BBQ was once again offering up tasty food to the community but this time with new heart. Owner Lonnie Posey is back slicing and chopping meat.
If you are wondering why Pop’s closed here’s the reason. Posey stated he had to go through the transplant procedure waiting at two different hospitals. His first surgeon was fired from the first hospital just as he was the next person in line to receive a new heart. Posey had to find a new doctor and hospital and begin his wait again. By then he had passed the age limit for transplant. Not to be deterred, Posey said with emphasis, “I was gonna get me a heart. I walked three miles a day inside the hospital waiting.” After his early bird table full of customers expressed amazement with his tenacity, Posey stated, “I used to walk five miles a day with BBQ, but Posey saw it differently.
