Royal SkillsUSA advances 27 students to the State Competition
The Royal SkillsUSA competed Friday, February 15 and Saturday 16, at the District 9 SkillsUSA Competition at Texas State Technical College in Rosenburg, Texas. Royal came away with many medals and trophies! In all, a total of 27 out of 44 Royal High School Career and Technical Education students have qualified for the State Competition in Corpus Christi, April 4-7.
The Cosmetology Department had many members advanced to the state level over the weekend. This is the most members advancing for the Cosmetology Department in history. Many students received “Excellent” ratings in their manikin hair and makeup job exhibits advancing them to state. They are as follows, Elizabeth Cruz, Latrivia Giles, Andrea Gomez, Lesly Gonzalez, Natali Nino, Avaina Rogers, Berta Salazar, Paola Salazar, Jennifer Sanchez, Valeria Sanchez, and Brooke Venson. Also many students received a “Very Good” rating placing second. These students are as follows, Noemi Nino, Danielle Ramirez, Samantha Morales, Juliany Perez, Ximena Vargas, Joselin Urquiza, Yanetxi Guerrero, Yajaira Salazar, Veronica Perales, Evelyn Melendez, Natalie Villarreal, and Anahi Gomez. The “Best of Show” was received by Magaly Nino! Also, Cosmetology competed in the Esthetics Competition, Yajaira Salazar won second place and Lesley Gonzalez received third place. A total of 14 Cosmetology members will be representing Royal at the state level. Congratulations to these girls, Royal is proud of their hard work!
