Scholarship Fund Raiser brings in nearly $20,000
The third annual Marie D. Pattison Memorial Scholarship raised nearly $20,000 Saturday March
2. The event was held at the Pattison Area Volunteer Fire Department. The night began with words from Dr. Lawrence Brandyberg, each of the National Honor Society officers and one of Marie Pattison’s daughters.
The packed house enjoyed Midway BBQ and a lively auction called by Auctioneer Charlie Tiner of Hempstead. The auction included a Tiner led competition between Neva Campbell and sister Lila Totman. When Tiner found out the two sisters are regular contributors of the ever-delicious, often bid-fought cinnamon rolls and a pie plus a quilt designed and created by Neva, Tiner set off to pit the items against each other to raise even more money. Tiner stated, “I’m not going to let this quilt go for less than $500. Tiner got his price for the quilt and raised the bids on the food items too, pretending the sisters were rivals – all in good fun.
