The 8th grade Lady Falcons championship team. (2014-15)

Senior leadership leads Lady Falcons to the playoffs

The Lady Falcons Basketball Team ended their regular season Tuesday night February 5, 2019 with a solid 53-36 win over a scrappy Needville Bluejays team. With that win the Lady Falcons holds the third spot in Region IV District 25 which ensures them a spot in the state playoff picture.

The night got started with a salute to the team seniors, honoring them for their service and outstanding leadership throughout the years. Seniors that were recognized were captains Epiphany Wilson (22) and Bailey Venson (1). Positive words of admiration were expressed by Royal High School principle Mr. Tony Runnels as well as The Lady Falcons head basketball coach Mr. Deidric McGowan. Both girls have been playing together since their seventh grade year. In their eighth grade year they led their team to a district championship, going undefeated.

During that year a quote was made by their head coach (Coach Muse) that, “This is a special group of girls that has a chance to go far when they get in high school.” She was right. Epiphany and Bailey are the only two left from that championship team and will bring that same tenacity to this year’s playoff team.
