Hilda Jean (Kelley) Bell

Hilda Jean (Kelley) Bell, 91, of Pattison, Texas passed away on January 22, 2019 in Katy, Texas.

Hilda was born on November 8, 1927, in Starrville, Texas, the daughter of Wm. Horace and Lillie (Nichols) Kelley. She grew up in the White Oak area and attended White Oak High School.

Hilda was u nited in marriage to S C Bell on October 4, 1943 in Brooksville, Florida.

During World War II she worked in a POW camp in NE Texas

Hilda and SC moved to Katy in 1949. Hilda was employed in the Business/ Tax Office of Katy ISD and later became the assistant manager for the Tri County Teachers (Brazos Valley) Credit Union.

Hilda was engaged in her community as a member of many organizations including the Order of the Eastern Star and Daughters of the Nile. She served as Texas Division President and President General of the United Daughters of the Confederacy and was a member of the John B. Hood Chapter in Pattison. Hilda was a member of the Colonial Dames of Georgia and a founding member of the Brookshire Pattison AARP Chapter. She was also an avid reader and enjoyed learning more about history and genealogy.

Hilda is survived by her son Truett and Lynn Bell of Pattison; daughter Lillie Ruby of Pattison; grandchildren: Joshua Aaron and Molly Ruby of McKinney, Michael Truett Bell of Pattison; Jennifer Elise Ruby of Mudgeeraba, Australia and Leslee Lynn and Jason Koch of Tomball; Great-grandchildren: Lachlan S C Hacking, Madeline Belle Ruby, Audrey Lynn Koch, and Caroline Olivia Ruby. Brother-in-law Frank and Elva Jean Bell of Waller, Nieces Moneica Koehn of Diana, Jan Spotts and Barry, Justin, Jeremy, Jared of Austin; Marianne Hoffart and Tommy, Annie Jean of Magnolia; Keneica Moore, Jacob, James of Katy; Nephews John Bell and Laura, Bethany, Jewelia of Waller; Jason Koehn and Taylor Lee of Baytown; Lawrence and Douglas Burke of Pittsburg; She was preceded in death by her parents, husband S C Bell, and sister Twahlay Northam.

The family received friends from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM on Friday, January 25, 2019, at the Pattison United Methodist Church.

The Funeral Service was held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, January 26, 2019, at the Pattison United Methodist Church. Interment followed in the Pattison Cemetery.
