Robert Eugene Ripple

Robert Eugene Ripple, age 71, passed away on October 18, 2018 after a lengthy battle with cancer. Robert was born in Houston, Texas in 1947 to Edward and Julia Ripple. He graduated in 1966 from Cypress-Fairbanks High School where he was the quarterback for his high school football team. After graduation, he attended Blinn Junior College where he was also the quarterback of the football team. Robert proudly served his country in the USMC during the Vietnam Conflict from 1969 to 1971. During those two years he achieved the rank of Corporal after having spent 1970 with the 1st Marine Division, 5th Marine Regiment. After he returned home, he went on to graduate from Sam Houston State University with a degree in Business Administration. Robert and his wife, Judy, owned and managed Rice Belt Implement Company, Inc., the Katy John Deere store, for many years where he met many people who became life-long friends. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Julia Ripple, his sister, Ethline Rolan, and his grandaughter, Amber Rose Ripple. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Judy Hegar Ripple, daughter, Jennifer Ripple Ladner and husband, Aubrey Ladner, Jr, son, Ryan Lee Ripple and wife, Melissa Webb Ripple, and his dearly loved grandsons, Camden James Ladner and Asher Raymond Ripple, sister, Anna Marie Foley, brother- in-laws, Bobby Rolan, Glenn Hegar Sr, and Gary Friedel, Sisters-in-laws, Kathy Hegar Friedel and Ronda Hegar and many nieces and nephews. Robert was loved by many and will be deeply missed. His favorite hobbies were spending time outdoors, playing guitar, and watching the Houston Astros. He loved hunting, fishing, and working in his yard. He always said that being outdoors is where he felt closer to God. Robert was a member of Becker Road Baptist Church. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 27, 2018 at the Schmidt Funeral Home Grand Parkway, with a reception immediately following.
