With millions of words in legislation to control our conduct and how we treat each other, nearly all of them are wasted. We only need one rule to follow – Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. It is called the Golden Rule. That one rule compels fairness, honesty, generosity, forgiveness, consideration and respect.
The biggest hurdle, in performance of that one rule, is honesty. It is not just honesty as to others; it is honesty with ourselves. Historically, the biggest lies we tell are the ones we tell ourselves. We have to be honest with ourselves before we can be truly honest with others.
